who are we?
We’re looking for people curious to learn about the wild world, who want to build bonds with the creatures that share the star, who want to explore the world and understand all the wildest parts of its reaches.
Beast taming and bonding are the core of the roleplay for the group, assisted by simple dice rolls and character sheets, including a wide array of perks.This is not a collect-them-all group, but one meant to focus on study, aid, rehabilitation, and environmental problem-solving.
The Featherfall Drift is an organized group of like-minded individuals working to lend aid to man and beast alike across the star.Many projects revolve around:> The healing of wild animals,
> The liberation & rescue of captive and abused creatures,
> The capture & rehabilitation or relocation of beasts causing issues to various locales,
... and the occasional extermination of anything too dangerous to handle in other ways.
ooc Rules
A more complete code of conduct will be included in our community discord, but here are the basic expectations we have for players.
> We are an 18+ FC. By joining, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older.> The community is LGBTQIA+ positive and multiracial. Bigotry and racism are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your fellow players.> IC and OOC conflict should be kept separate.> We’d ask that players be active at least once a month. Longer breaks are fine with some notice, life happens!
> The usual no godmodding/powerplaying applies.> A basic level of literacy is required. Full sentences, punctuation, and decent grammar. Typos and mistakes happen, of course, but we’d like to keep a base level of quality on the whole.> No animal abuse by player characters. Bonding =/= beating or coercion.> Characters must be adults.> ERP/NSFW should be kept out of main channels and kept to DMs only, with consent.> Absolutely No AI.

We honor the place of every creature within the balance of the Star, acting not from cruelty or sport, but from necessity and care.III
We mend injury and calm fear, seeking the cause of a creature’s behavior before deeming it hostile.IV
We strive for harmony between settlements and the wild, favoring coexistence, then relocation, and only lastly harm.V
No beast is bound without just cause. Captivity is a last resort, used only for welfare or safety. It is never for vanity or profit.VI
When a creature cannot be healed or contained and poses grave danger, we act swiftly to end suffering.VII
Our charge is not complete until balance is restored.
The Claw, the Talon, and the Pinions guide the Drift’s flight. Heed their voice, for through them, the course of our work is set.

The Claw
Blessed be the parts of us that are ever untamed.Nuala Fletcher learned young the art of working alongside beasts and the necessity of observation. Alongside her bonded griffin Althea, she’s following in her grandfather’s footsteps to put together a group to uphold the ideals of understanding and exploration of the creatures of the world.
The Talon
Blessed be the fleeting, the fragile, the fiercely alive.Rahmat Ul'asahti, Mercy of the Sting, hails from caverns-turned-mining camps in the heart of Dalmasca. He has long wandered the Star, powered by his passion and love for the unspoken denizens of the Source. The Drift is a rare roost of his; him and his diremites will go far to defend it.
The Pinions
Officers and team leads.The Pinions help manage the logistical work around the outposts and organize the group. They take charge when the Claw and Talon are otherwise unavailable, and often form the consult when large group-wide decisions need to be made.
The Plumes
Fully-fledged members of the Drift, the core of the group.Plumes fill the roles necessary to keep the Drift’s sanctuary running; research, animal care, field work, culling, and so on. Often they work together, occasionally they can run solo, but always they are considered competent and skilled enough to handle the work given to them.
The Downs
Initiates to the Drift.They do much of the work that the Plumes do, but with a little more supervision and guidance. A Down graduates to a Plume once they demonstrate an understanding of the group ideals and the skills required to enter the field on their own.
join the drift
We use a Discord application process.Filling one out is required, and one of the admin team will look over it manually before approval.Discord will be the main hub for the community. The Free Company itself is on Mateus, though applicants from other servers may be considered.
Characters may choose to apply with a creature already bonded, of mount-size or smaller, with DM discretion. If you’d like to do so, fill out the extra questions at the bottom of the form.Those who do not enter with a creature will be offered a few to pick from upon joining. Upon approval, an admin will assist with onboarding and building a character sheet!
We kindly ask that OCs do not include concepts such as voidsent/ sin eaters, shard travelers, WoLs, dragons/auspices, and similar archetypes.This is not an exhaustive list, nor is it intended to limit creativity, but only to help maintain the setting’s consistency.If you are uncertain whether a concept fits, please feel free to reach out to the admin team via Discord for clarification.
